Who Are We?

Fox Meadow Flower Farm is a 30 acre, sustainably grown, organic family farm located on the Kennebec River in Central Maine. We focus on growing specialty cut flowers for wedding and event design. These include peonies, lavender, ranunculus, anenomes, lisianthus and dahlias, along with a wide variety of perennials.

After a lifetime of mowing fields, we have been excited to see the farm produce more than a beautiful view, milkweed for the monarchs, and a home for the fox families that have been here for as long as we can remember.

Our Design Philosophy

We are passionate about creating lush, elegant and natural designs inspired by the fleeting beauty brought by the seasons.

We specialize in growing unusual and heirloom varieties, and freshly harvested blooms that don’t carry the chemicals, pesticides and packaging that typically come with commercially grown flowers.

Peter Bastien

Peter grew up on the farm and is co-owner with his wife, Jana. He tirelessly supports all of her schemes. His Plants and Soils education, as well as his former work with the University of Maine’s Cooperative Extension Service as the Master Gardener Program Coordinator bring valued knowledge to the farm about soil and plant health. “Peat” does it all.

Matt DuBois

Matt, owner of The Bankery and Skowhegan Fleuriste, has been a constant supporter and farm worker at Fox Meadow. Without his knowledge and encouragement, we would surely have given up the dream of a cut flower farm. Annie Mefford of One Drop Farm once said, “Matt needs a cape.” He is always there to support us and other local farm businesses. Maybe this year, we’ll make him one!

Sadie Libby

Sadie is in her second year of working for Fox Meadow. She works tirelessly as a dedicated member of our team, and we can’t imagine what we would do without her. Sadie is meticulous in her work and has a brain that holds all the information that we throw at her! Her spirit has been a wonderful addition to the farm.

Julia Johnstone

Our daughter Julia has been a key part of Fox Meadow Flower Farm from the beginning. She worked every Saturday in our first season while completing her PhD in Marine Science. Julia went with Jana to do that first introductory visit to area florists, with a bucket of peonies in hand and that smile of hers. She has been our “secret weapon”, coming in to rescue dahlias from a frost, get 500 lisianthus plugs in the ground, and so much more. Julia learned along with us about all things flower farming, and we truly couldn’t have done it without her.
